Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What can we put in buckets?
A: Whatever will fit and you can close the lid.
Q: Should we put our names on the buckets?
A: Probably a good idea.
Q: What type of biking should we expect?
A: A mix of some roads (not much), paved trail, mud, and sand. Yes, you can use whatever type of bike you want to bring – but only one bike for the entire race.
Q: Is the course clearable?
A: If you are fast enough and don’t make a lot of navigation errors.
Q: What kind of maps?
A: 1:24 and 1:50 mixed aerial and feature maps.
Q: Will we be plotting UTM coordinates?
A: Yes – you will receive coordinates for all bonus controls. Unless you are very fast, it is unlikely you will need to plot.
2 Elite Divisions: Supported and Unsupported
We are returning to “old school” adventure racing allowing teams to have a support crew and use their own boats.
The Supported division is exactly like the days of old where a support crew was able to assist racers at specified locations along the route.
Unsupported (No Crew) teams will use our boats and will have to use race resources (bucket) just like you are normally used to racing.
Because of the limitations on the number of allowed racers (50) we will supply all boats for the race.
Supported and unsupported options only apply to the elite 24-hour race.
The Sport Race
The Sport race is a shorter version of all the fun. This will be a traditional run/bike/paddle adventure race.
Local Camping is available at Lake Monroe Park https://www.volusia.org/services/community-services/parks-recreation-and-culture/parks-and-trails/park-facilities-and-locations/ecological-nature-parks/lake-monroe-park.stml
Also camping at Gemini Springs Park is also good and close.
