Sport 4 Hour and Elite 8 Hour Adventure Races
About the Race
This year will feature a free format race starting at Doris Leeper Park.
4-Hour Race
The 4-Hour Beginner Adventure Race is perfect for new or family teams looking to have some fun discovering the outdoors with adventure racing. Easy to read and simple navigation will take you to some hidden spots. Distances are always based on your team’s abilities and speed in adventure racing; however, should expect between 10-15 miles of mountain biking, and 3-5 miles of trekking with 3-5 miles of canoeing.
If you are new to adventure racing, we will have sessions to help you prepare to start at 10 a.m. You should also go to the FLX Facebook page (it is public, you do not need a FB account unless you want to post or add questions) and read up on the postings.

8 Hour Race
The 8 Hour race is more challenging, however, set up for a beginner team looking to “jump right in” their first race. Distances are always based on your team’s abilities and speed in adventure racing; however, roughly 20 miles of mountain biking, 10-15 miles of trekking with 2-5 miles of canoeing.
General Info
All teammates must be present to check in and receive instructions. The later you are, the shorter the time to prepare.
We supply all canoes, paddles, and PFDs; however, teams may bring their paddle gear.
Water and snacks will be provided at Transition Areas.
The race Includes T-shirt, Finishers Medal, Food and Drink after the race and awards for each division.
Canoe Seats – All teams will use our supplied canoes if you are a 3-person team, you may wish to bring your own 3rd seat. This seat works fine in the canoes. We do have some middle seats, but we cannot guarantee they will be available. A pad for the middle of the boat also works. Also we recommend a no-slip cover for the seats. Shelf liners work very well – you will slide on the seats when you get a little wet.
Camping – We are working on camping options
Additional Race Spots – If the race is closed – additional teams who wish to bring their own canoe, kayaks, or packrafts can sign up. Teams bringing their own boats will be able to stage the boats prior to the race start.
Solo Racers
All solo racers should plan on bringing their own boat. Boat staging is very near the start, and instructions will be given on how to stage your boat. We will mail you back a link to register.
[Disciplines involved: Trekking, Biking, Paddling, Navigation, Orienteering]
