About the Race

Brought to you by FLX in partnership with Florida Orienteering. This race will test your endurance and your navigation skills.

• Mass Start at 9 AM
• Starts with a traditional Orange Level Orienteering course
• When complete you return to the S/F and will receive coordinates and maps for the Challenge Course (~15K)
• Return to the S/F and if you beat the cutoff (4 hours) receive your traditional Orienteering Blue Course map and complete the last leg of the race (or decide you’ve had enough at this point and quit).
• We will support LiveLox tracking, so please load LiveLox on your phone and be prepared to start the tracking.

• Horrible terrain (pretty thick at FAM)
• Challenging navigation
• Hot weather.
• Packs of wild animals (chickens, turkeys, and donkey!)
• Cold beverages at the end

So if you are tough enough and have the skills – go for it. If not, well we will understand.

What to expect:

1. You will start the race with a mass start Orienteering Orange Course. This will be held completely within the Florida Ag Museum. Once done you will download SI data (on 2 computers) and get your Challenge Map.
2. The challenge course will be a USGS and Aerial Map, UTM coordinates, and some bearings. You will also be given separate trail maps of the area. This is mostly a trail run, but a beautiful one. Strategy, timing and speed will be key to beat the 1 PM cutoff. This features the best of Pellicer Creek and the Florida Ag Museum. Once complete download your SI data and start leg 3.
3. Runners that beat the 1 PM deadline will get the Blue course O map and will begin a challenging but incredible blue course mostly in the open woods of Pellicer Creek. Runners after 1PM will be bumped to Red Course, after 1:15 bumped to Green Course. (If you don’t know what that means this is not the event for you).
